Eveleigh Train Maintenance Centre

CCG Architects provided the architectural professional services to prepare the Project Definition Report for the upgrading of the Facility. The works included concept design options and costings for an additional high level access platform for eight cars and associated engineering services above Road 3 in the Eveleigh Maintenance Centre – Upgrading for OSCAR 3 Commissioning & Maintenance.

The commission included a concept design review and costing of the following proposed works and make a recommendation on the required scope.

Maintenance Facility – Internal

• hi-level platform above Road 3

• handrails/ protection/ covers/ screens

• Annette Lock to Road 3

• shore supply/ substation upgrade

• air supply to Road 3

• 3000A rail switch

• signage/ painting

• fire safety provisions

• track warning system to Road 3

External

• Decanting Facility external engineering roads

The maintenance facility is located within the heritage boundary (curtilage) for Eveleigh which was listed on the State Heritage Register in 1999. Although the ACDEP has not been identified in any previous studies, as a heritage item itself – generally, all works within the curtilage require approval/notification to the NSW Heritage Branch.

This commission included the coordination of a Multidiscipline Consultant Team and the Submission of a Section 57 Notice of Exemption to the Heritage Branch on behalf of RailCorp.
